Carbon dashboard is an application that visualizes personal carbon emissions data. The app uses algorithms to calculate users' daily carbon emissions, based on their personal consumption behavior and daily exercise routes, enabling them to gain a more accurate understanding of the high-carbon behavior in their lives and to control it. It changes the user's high carbon consumption behavior by visualizing their carbon emissions, giving them a better visualization of their carbon emissions and a greater willingness to reduce them in order to protect the environment.

Production Technology

This app uses algorithms to calculate daily carbon emissions based on individual consumption and action routes.

Design Challenge

Our challenge lies mainly in the algorithm for the transformation between carbon emissions and consumption behavior data. We hope that this transformation of data will give users a clearer understanding of the environmental impact of their individual behavior.

Project Duration

The project started in September 2020 and finished in May 2021 in China.

Operation Flow

By recording personal consumption behavior, Carbon dashboard transforms consumption data into a visualization of carbon emissions, categorizing the sources of carbon emissions and enabling users to gain a more precise understanding of the high carbon emissions in their lives and to control them. By socially ranking the carbon emissions around them, users are stimulated to reduce their carbon emissions as much as possible.

Research

Our research in this project focused on changing people's behavior through visualization, and we did a lot of research and user interviews to develop a prototype interface for Carbon dashboard.

Inspiration

I want to construct a translational relationship between consumption behaviour and carbon emissions, and to visualize this as a reminder to reduce high carbon emission behaviour.

Project Overview

Carbon Dashboard Mobile Application has been a Iron winner in the Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design award category in the year 2021 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
