CASTELLAR is a set of magnetic storage containers which can be put on the sewing machine for keeping desktop clean while working, and improve the exciting storage containers for different tailoring tools. The shuttles are stored in the the bridge part, reduces the storage area of the desk, and they can put a group of shuttles which needed one time. The needles are adsorbed on the box part by magnetic force, and the downward concave cone prevents users' hands from being stabbed when taking out the needles, and classify different needles with four surfaces.

Design Challenge

There are so many kinds of tailoring tools and accessories are being used during work, so it took me a lot time to classified them and observe the timing they are used and the way they are taken, and finally find a suitable way to store them.

Project Duration

The project is started in Taiwan from Sep. 2017 and to Jan. 2018.

Operation Flow

I found that the tailors tend to put objects on the sewing machine and set notes on it with a magnet, and the tailoring tools are mostly made with stainless steel, so I decided to use the space above the machine, combined with magnetic to do more effective storage, improving not only the efficiency but also the professional image of tailors.

Research

The tailor ladies are the historical significance and a common memories of everyone in Taiwan. According to my survey research, Taiwanese generally respect the traditional tailor's profession, but most people's impression of them is crowded space and messy table, which leading to the low willingness to learn among young people, end up emerging industrial age faults. Therefore, I want to to create an orderly and convenient working environment through integrating the storage of appliances, improving not only the efficiency but also their professional image.
