Based on the idea of "porcelain on the go", the Softline Collection is a great option for those who like to get their coffee, tea, fruit salad or muesli out of the house. The porcelain and food-safe, sealed silicone lid is neutral in both taste and odour. Thanks to the silicone sleeve, the glass does not burn the hands and can be grasped comfortably. All parts of the cups with different color options are individually recyclable and aim to provide an environmentally friendly, reusable alternative to disposable cups.

Unique Properties

With the theme "To go Mug", "Softline" is designed for coffee lovers. Thanks to its form, it can be used both for drinking coffee and as a bowl (Granola, Fruit Salad, smoothie etc.) It offers heat insulation with its silicone cover while keeping your food or coffee safe inside. It also offers a fun use thanks to its different color combinations, glossy and matte surface.

Production Technology

Porcelain/ Silicone shaping. Softline glasses, which take their color from the specially developed reactive glaze technique, were produced using environmentally friendly and healthy materials.

Design Challenge

It provides an aesthetic appearance and ease of use with its soft form line. The challenge was creating that form, which fits hand and making a fun looking cup at the same time. Therefor our goal is to reduce the use of paper cups.

Operation Flow

Softline glasses, which take their color from the specially developed reactive glaze technique, were produced using environmentally friendly and healthy materials for coffee lovers. You can be the barista of your home with forms suitable for every kind of coffee and products that will highlight the flavors you want.

Research

We observed that coffee lovers enjoy drinkinig their coffees hot. So Unlike standard Mug lids, the drinking hole on the lid is designed with a 3 degree angle. Thanks to this feature, it prevents the lips from burning. Another point of our research was sustainability in daily usage products. It is designed to reduce the use of paper cups and plastic containers in the food and beverage industry, while continuing our sustainability journey.

Inspiration

The motivation behind the project was adding a different experience to coffee drinking culture. Coffee is a routine for most of us. However, we wanted to go beyond this routine and add a little playfulness. Thanks to its different color combinations, glossy and matte surfaces and big range in colour options you can choose the one for your pleasures. Portability is also important for a coffee addict person which we considered this and adapt to our design. Softline mugs are always portable with its silicone lids and use as a storage container and bowl. In this way its giving the user many advantages as we desired.

Project Overview

Softline Coffee Cup and Bowl has been a Bronze winner in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
