Production Technology

In the design, 3D printing is used for the shell and the surface of it is painted and polished, and a glass container is placed in the middle to hold the flowers. After that, ABS plastic materials and glass materials are used for mass production.

Project Duration

The project started in Hangzhou in July 2020 and completed in Hangzhou in September 2020.

Operation Flow

qThe transparent glass part can be filled with water and fresh plants, or it can be removed as a container for dried flowers. The platform at the bottom can hold fallen flowers which can let the fragrance of flowers last longer, or it can be used to hold fruits for decoration.

Research

Designers have paid much attention on vase design in terms of the special material, color and shape of vase, while weakening the role of plants. we believe the essential function of vase is presenting the beauty of natural plants instead of over-decorating itself. Our design puts natural plants in the center and creates maximum space for presenting the beauty of plants. We would like to build connection between human and nature by vision and hearing. Musical vase will bring peace, imagination, and harmony into human life.

Inspiration

Circle is the most initial and most inclusive form, symbolizing completeness, harmony, and iterative growth. Musical Vase has a circular shape with plants growing from the center of circle. This visual form symbolizes that plants have vigorous vitality to break through the limited space and bloom brilliantly. Musical vase is a multifunctional vase that can play music, which can bring people both hearing and vision enjoyment. White is used to set off the natural beauty of plants. The minimalist Zen shape allows the sound to spread to the depths of people's hearts, and the hollowed out part of the shape brings more imagination. The size ratio and load-bearing capacity of the white plastic shell to the glass container have also been accurately calculated.
